Program Expansion & Successes
- In Fall 2018, we introduced our AmeriCorps Great Futures program which aims to engage 36 AmeriCorps members annually in service to expand our Literacy Initiative, provide consistent access to STEM programming, and implement high-yield programming for Club members in Kindergarten through 8th grade
- In January 2019, BGCP expanded our Literacy Initiative to the West Coast, leading a week-long training for 30 staff from Boys & Girls Clubs in California emphasizing multisensory instructional techniques
- In July 2019, we were awarded a $1,687,500, 5 year 21st Century Community Learning Center grant to serve 225 youth at Sullivan, Emlen, and Ziegler Elementary Schools
- In January 2020, we broke ground on the construction of the Ralph J. Roberts Boys & Girls Club in Germantown. This state-of-the-art facility represents the transformation of a dilapidated, 120-year-old building into a beacon of hope and opportunity for Germantown’s youth. The 27,000 square-foot Club will feature a full gym, Teen Center, Kids Café, Literacy Center, STEM Lab, Art Studio, Tech Center, Social Recreation Room and more. In addition to extensive interior renovations, the Club will include a state-of-the-art outdoor recreation space boasting regulation sized playing fields, two playgrounds, a splash park, and a reflection garden.
Fiscal Sustainability
- In September 2021, we hosted our ninth annual Philly Showcase of Wine, Cheese & Beer, raising over $2.9 million for Philadelphia’s youth and attracting more sponsors and vendors than ever before!
